What's That Smell?

We smell all kinds of odors everyday. Sometimes we recognize the smell and sometimes we don't. One odor that has a smell all it's own would be a skunk spraying. Ooooooooohhhhhhhh. That's definitely the worse smell and a strong one too. It can knock you out. Skunk smell gonna knock you out. Bobo loves his stuffless squirrel and I know he wouldn't like a smelly one. He is a funny dog about keeping very clean. He hates to step on wet grass after a good rain. It's like watching him tip toe through the tulips or blades of grass in our case.
On a serious note; we are having another odor we didn't even know we would have to smell or deal with. It's called Chinese Drywall and has been all over the news lately. Most of the complaints are coming from homeowners that have bought from 2000-2007. I have seen many different dates but one fact is prior to and after the hurricanes they had to bring in help for drywall as there was a shortage of it due to new construction going up faster than they could build and the hurricanes we had. Humidity causes the sulfur in the drywall to give off gas, which is the reason for noxious odors and corrosion on metal products and other materials in the home. Eg. Copper pipes, AC Coils Etc. ect. ect.
If you believe you have this Chinese drywall material you should not steam clean carpets, walls, floors etc. until you have had your home inspected and analyzed by a professional licensed contractor in that field. Just a word to the wise we can't see behind our walls but we can certainly smell them. Don't leave it to chance ask questions when you purchase your home and see if they know if it has the material. Most builders, we were told, should know where their supplies were ordered from. You may even be able to smell it.
