Apology Accepted!

I thought today we would discuss what occasions would call for an apology. A belated response to an invitation, gift or something that was very important in their life. Damage to someone else's property. An insulting or insensitive remark. Employee rudeness. There are obviously more but let's get started on how we should reply to these types of situations.
You may have a different approach but I did take these out of a book I have always liked for writing called, How to Say It by Rosalie Maggio, chapter 6-Apologies. Although some apologies can be made in person or over the telephone, most really need to be written-and written quickly. When you procrastinate, you will have to apologies once for the delay and for the infraction. Remember we all make mistakes and will one day need to apologize for something we have done to offend someone eventually as that's life. Humans make mistakes and usually the person you offend are less bothered by your mistakes and errors more than you are; write with dignity and self-respect. Whether you think an apology is etiquette, ethical, justified, even a good business practice they are necessary to being alive and human. State you regret the offense. Offer to make amends. You may have to ask the person what solution they would prefer to move on from that situation. Assure the person it will not happen again. If it's a problem you are unaware of, thank them for bringing it to your attention. In a business context, finish the letter by asking them for continued patronage. Remember, we need to console them.
When we do something wrong to a pet we can't write to our dogs, cats etc. We can show them with love and comfort that we are are sorry. Your pet will be more forgiving than a person will be. Just make sure you love on them at the time it happens and they won't remember what happened after a few minutes go by. Dogs, especially Bobo will take a bone or toy from Izzy. I notice he will start licking her in the face and ears first and then start to inch his way to her mouth and he takes that bone or toy away so fast Izzy almost doesn't even know it happened. She always goes for another bone right away or will play with another toy, if that is what she had, at the time. It's almost like Bobo is I 'm sorry I really want what you have and will love on you first to get it from you when you least expect it. I'm sure that's not really what it means but I am not a dog whisperer either. I am a dog lover. Most dog whisperers would probably call it a dominance thing.
Bobo and Izzy are most of my inspiration for these Blogs. I love them for that because they are so easy to love. Both have very sweet personalities most of the time. Even if you have a pet you will eventually accidentally step on them and they may squeal or yelp from the pain they feel or because they were just scared by what happened. They will forget very quickly.
