Let's Go Get That Listing...My Sister, My Hero!

I have always had such respect for my sister, Linda, who really knows how to get a listing. The preparation is sometimes absurd. She starts by getting the referral or her own lead, and farms that person. She never gives up. Week after week goes by and she stays on these Prospective Sellers. When you finally get the appointment you must put together a CMA for the Seller to see. Checking taxes, information, actives, solds and pendings, depending on the type of market you're in. There's so much more to do. You need the right tone of voice over the phone when you speak to the person you are meeting with. Linda, does it all. She does our pictures, and our partner, Joe, puts them in along with the visual tour. There is so much more a listing entails, but I would never get to what I want to tell you about if I keep on going with what's involved. Before I do I have to say I love watching my sister when she's getting the listing. She is in her glory when she's putting it all together. Linda makes everything a joy. Thanks Linda for reminding us to have fun too.
I will never forget when I was a new Realtor and had to dial the phone to get a listing appointment. I called the number, after more than a few phone calls, I caught a man at home that answered. I almost hung up when he answered. We talked for a while and I asked him if he wanted to sell his house. He told me he was going to see about selling it and thought it was amazing on the timing of my call. I didn't understand it at the time, but I thought, okay, what do I do now? I cupped my hand over the phone and Linda said, "tell him we'll see him now." I proceeded to ask the gentleman, how about now? He said all right, and I couldn't believe it. "See you soon," I said. I looked at Linda and said, "let's go get that listing."
Linda was very excited about my call. It was my first listing appointment that I actually did from a phone call. Linda, never told me at the time, but you just don't always leave with the listing right away. That day she sure did. She wanted to make sure I wasn't let down.
For all the Realtors out there. Go get those listings and find or become your own heroes. It's very hard to get a listing, especially in a lower priced market. Don't get down over what you are doing. Be the best that you can be. My sister sure is the best example of that. Let's go get that listing....my sister my hero.
