Pop Up, Goes A Hurricane!

[Photo]I am not one to tout too much about the weather. Especially when I am a Realtor and not a weather person. This year we may be in for one of the most unusual seasons yet, for hurricanes. The news is calling them pop up hurricanes. Why this is important to all of us as a homeowner is we are not going to have the time needed to prepare like we usually do. These are popping up practically in our backyards which is our own Atlantic Coast. Instead of the hurricane starting off in Africa where we see it make it's way here. This year they are predicting most of our tropical weather is going to be coming to our coastline in less than 3 days. What do you do? I would say if you don't have hurricane shutters on your home do it ASAP. Try to put up the accordion shutters as they are very easy to use. Another type is the metal slats you install over the window yourself with bolts and screws. Lots of work but still worth it when you know a hurricane is coming. There are people who will put them up for you at a reasonable cost. Then there are the windows that already have the impact glass on them. As they say they are wind resistant I don't believe there is any statistics as to how much they can sustain. Ask the salesperson and get it in writing to protect yourself. If you are really without $$ to spend, find some decent plywood with a good thickness on them. That has been what I see a lot of people have had to make use of. Although these won't save you any $$ when you go to get your Homeowners insurance it still is safer than not having anything at all. Make sure to hang on to the proof when you purchase the proper hurricane shutters, as it will save you $$ with the homeowner insurance company.Bobo and Izzy wanted me to let you know they don't like the thunder booms and the lightening that comes with most hurricanes. It's always scary when we can't see what's happening all the time but we can find a safe place to go in our homes. Preferably a closet or utility room where there are no windows. We were told, we can go in with our mom as long as our bladders are emptied and we have done our duty. Hee.....Hee..... With these hurricanes coming so fast it's pop up, goes a hurricane before you know it, it's been here and gone.
