Help Others First!

Let's pretend today is the first day of your life. What are you going to do with it? Let's start with how you are going to impact others lives and our lives. Notice, I didn't say let's start with us first. We have been hog washed most of our lives about self help and you first. To me it sounds selfish. Help others and you will be helping yourself. I can't totally explain in my heart the happiness you will feel when someone gets uplifted or you hear they have been helped by someone else. All these self helpers make it sound good when they say you can't take care of someone else if you aren't taken care of first. Some of that may be true but make sure it's for the right reasons. Obviously you need to have your health in order to help others with theirs, especially if you are a care giver. It helps keep our mind off ourselves and on to someone else.
I had an example of that this weekend with Izzy and Bobo. They definitely got a hold of something. I noticed Izzy especially wasn't really being herself. Now it's meal time and she is usually the first one to eat. She just stayed on the couch and didn't want to eat. I put her by the food and nothing. Okay, first day, maybe she isn't wanting to eat today. They do that every now and then but not Bobo, he wouldn't eat either. Next day, Izzy still not herself but Bobo gets something to come through that gets rid of whatever he had. He seems to be better. He ate today but Izzy still not eating and laying around more than walking. Bobo eats for both of them but of course put less food so not to upset the situation again. Decide Izzy goes to Animal Hospital with Bobo just in case. They are going to treat her with antibiotics and send her home. Bobo is okay. By the next day Izzy is coming around. What a miracle as she was really starting to scare me. She and Bobo got something but I don't know what it was. All I know is I care for both of them and they can't take care of themselves.
So let's help others first and you will be helped in more ways than you will ever know. Bobo and Izzy know they are loved and well cared for. If I worried about me first, I might not had made the same decisions in caring for them. I wouldn't be me without them.
