Try And Muster A Hello!

Why does it seem hard for most of us to get to know people. Even the people we're around every day at our jobs, we may never say hi to them until someone introduces us.
I was invited to this picnic at a beach park, down the street from my house. When I got there no one was talking or even looking at each other. I was coming up the walkway with a friend of mine, Judy, and we both kept saying hi to everybody. "What are you all up to? Hey you guys, what's up? Hello! Louder, Hello, very loud, and finally them looking our way. "You guys were in another world or something?" They laughed and I started to introduce myself and Judy to all the people there. Then, I started to introduce everyone who didn't know each other. The best way to get people to get to know each other is a simple hi so and so, this is so and so. Smile and look at them both, and finish with, now you know each other. They will usually laugh  or smile about it. It's a great ice breaker just saying hi to someone.

Anyway, just remember when you are around a crowd of people, just introduce yourself to everyone there. All people like to feel included. They usually will return with a hand shake, knuckle bump or smile. It really is an easy thing to do unless you are very shy about talking. I find being around other people is very stimulating. It's very easy to get to know other people from a simple introduction. Smile and just enjoy saying hi and you will be surprised how many people will find you sociable, interesting, and likable just from a simple smile and hello.
Next time you go to work at your job, stop and say hi to at least 2 people you have never met, and see how quickly they start to say hi when they see you again. When they see you again they already feel they know you. Can you imagine if we didn't talk much. How then would me and my partners be able to work in Real Estate. We would have to do something else for sure. I've always enjoyed talking to people my whole life. I know some people don't feel comfortable talking to people, but you could at least try and muster a hello.

  1. What a way of getting the word hello out there. I really like the way you put it. I know a friend of mine who freezes up when she is around people. I will suggest a knuckle bump. Another fun read. Thanks again.
