Hi all! Today is Father's Day and I think about my dad even since he's been gone for a long time. We always sent him a card ever since I can remember and used to call him on this special day. When I was 10 years old, my parents, divorced. I will never forget that day, as my mom threw her shoes at him. All I can remember is watching shoes soar through the air as my dad left the house in a haste. Air Nike wasn't born yet but mom had the right idea. Ha. You have to take it light now but as a kid it was very heavy stuff. As I grew older, I always let him know how much I loved him and missed him. He was living in Massachusetts and I was in California. It was a long way away but phones do help make the distance between people not seem to hurt as much.
It wasn't easy all those years going by without my dad much in my life. Mostly our conversations mostly consisted of needing some money for a dentist bill or whatever the need was that we couldn't pay for.
All this sounds a bit sad. A few years before my dad died, of heart failure, he came to see me and my sister for the very last time. We didn't know it then; but that was the best visit we ever had. He told us how sorry he was for everything and always loved us very much. Forgiveness is the best gift me and my sister could have ever given him; and we did that day. He said it meant so much to him that we still cared and loved him. We were all very blessed.
My dad was in the Korean war and marched the battle fields, of a bloody earthly war. Now may he be marching in the Army of Angels that God has saved for his battle that is yet to come.
Happy Father's Day to every dad today. May it be a day full of love, caring and family.
Happy Father's Day to our dad. Love Linda and Lois xoxoxoxo
